Investigation on the behavior factor of leaning masonry wall structures

In force-based seismic design, the behavior factor q (or response modification R) is devised to prevent overdesign by reducing design force. Different values of are available for various structure types. However, masonry fence walls not categorized in current codes. These poor quality due absence proper assurance and maintenance, most those structures inclined. this study, leaning experimentally estimated. We fabricate three wall that inclined with different angles 1.5 $$^\circ$$ , 3.0 6.0 respectively. Monotonically increasing biaxial lateral loads applied using a shaking table. The value each calculated analyzing dynamic load–displacement relationship. A relationship between angle discussed, new empirical formula representing as function proposed. proposed would be useful severely walls.
